From September 20 to 25, 2025, a delegation of local chief executives, administrators, civil servants, and architects from the Philippines joined the program "Designing the Future of Cities: Building Capacities in Green Urban Design, Good Governance and Deep Economy" in Kaohsiung and Taichung, Taiwan.
Managed by Edu-Connect Southeast Asia Association and the University of the Philippines CLRG - Center for Local and Regional Governance, the program provided a platform to explore the intersections of architecture, governance, and sustainability in shaping people-centered cities. The delegates engaged in sessions on digital governance, citizen participation, social housing, and smart mobility, along with site visits to adaptive reuse projects, ecological corridors, and social innovation hubs.
The learning journey culminated in Taichung at the 2025 Yuan Ye Awards themed “Thirty Forward; Carbon-Neutral Future,” where the Philippine delegation was recognized as the largest and only international group in attendance.
