PROJECT LAKBAY Goes to the City of Gentle People – Dumaguete City
Organized by Educonnect, BLN & Estorya Collective
About this Event
Project LAKBAY is an immersive learning initiative designed to create transformative cross-cultural and institution-based learning experiences across the Philippines. In Filipino, ‘lakbay’ means "journey," reflecting the initiative's commitment to place-based, experiential learning. It is also a city-based academic partnership platform where universities, communities, culture, and creativity converge to foster meaningful and long-term collaboration between Taiwan and the Philippines.
Project LAKBAY – Dumaguete is a five-day benchmarking, cultural, and community immersion program for civil and public servants, private professionals, academics, leaders, entrepreneurs and students for structured engagement with Philippine academic institutions, civic communities, local governments, and creative organizations this August 25-31, 2025.
About the Project
Anchored during Silliman University's Foundation Week celebration, locally known as Hibalag — a Visayan word meaning "meet together" — the program positions Dumaguete as a living classroom where education, literature, creativity, and community intersect.
Dumaguete City is internationally recognized as a UNESCO Creative City of Literature and home to Silliman University, the oldest American-founded university in Asia, celebrating its 125th Founder's Day in 2026.
Organized by Bayanihan Lab Network (BLN) and Edu-Connect Southeast Asia Association. For more information and inquiry, message: bayanihanlabnetwork@gmail.com
Please note: Hotel accommodations and flights will be arranged at the delegates' own discretion and expense. Participants are encouraged to book their accommodations with the organizers to ensure availability.
