Led by Governor Christian Yap, the Tarlac delegation successfully concluded its four-day learning exchange in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, strengthening its international ties and paving the way for potential collaborations in investment, education, research, and development strategies that could help support Tarlac's long-term goals for economic growth and sustainable governance. The delegation included representatives from the municipalities of Tarlac and Victoria Industrial Park, spearheaded by its Chief Executive Officer, Melissa Yap.
Throughout the program, the delegates visited key institutions that showcased Taiwan's best practices in agriculture, logistics, education, and public service. These included a wholesale market managed by a farmers' cooperative, a cold chain logistics facility, a university, and a citizen-centered public office. These visits led the delegation to engage in productive dialogues with the local government officials, academic institutions, and business leaders to explore areas of cooperation that focused on potential partnerships in investment, industrial development, research initiatives, and workforce development, laying the groundwork for future collaboration between the province of Tarlac and Taiwan.
One of the key highlights of the visit was the continued partnership with the Neipu Township in Pingtung County and the Kaohsiung Chamber of Commerce, whose representatives are expected to visit Tarlac to further explore business opportunities and strengthen economic cooperation. The delegation also held discussions about the Taiwanihan College regarding its potential educational collaborations that could promote knowledge exchange and skills development between Taiwan and Tarlac. These initial discussions mark a positive step toward attracting investments that can support local industries and create employment.
More than a tour, the four-day program served as a platform for fostering meaningful partnerships that can contribute to Tarlac's development. As the province continues to pursue sustainable and innovative solutions, the experience shared in Kaohsiung reaffirms the value of collaboration, knowledge exchange, and strong international partnerships in creating lasting opportunities for the people of Tarlac.
